perivale 'design and build'...
YDP acquired the site of the Perivale Methodist Church in December 2014, following a year of negotiation. The church had largely lost its congregation, due to demographic changes within the area, and the building itself, which would never have won architectural or ecclesiastical prizes, was starting to fall into disrepair.
Following another year of negotiations with Ealing Borough Council, involving the local MP, the company obtained planning consent for seven three-bedroom houses and two two-bedroom flats.
Construction was started at the beginning of 2017 and completed fifteen months later. The properties were brought to the market by Foxtons and, following their good advice, sales have been assisted by the Help to Buy scheme. All of the nine units are under offer at the time of writing, with completions scheduled for June and July 2018.
Each of the properties is finished to a higher standard than would be usually expected with a sub £600k price point. Kitchens (as with previous developments by YDP) are equipped to the highest standards using our kitchen and bedroom manufacturers AshleyAnn, along with Siemens for appliances. Bathrooms are by Sottini. The flooring is solid walnut.
The development is a private street which has been beautifully landscaped with lawns and silver birch to each house complemented by shrubbery and further birch along the communal areas. Vehicular access is managed through electronically controlled bollards.
Rainbird Close was designed, with some input from Yellow Door directors, by Gareth Bridge at South Bank Architects and was built by Fitzgerald & Burke. This development was a pleasure to be involved in and profitable for all concerned. We look forward to the possibility of putting this team together again on future projects. We should also recognise the invaluable help from David Barber at RBS, whose confidence in our team facilitated funding in a difficult financial climate.
